We decided to remove the railing that separate the entrance hallway and living room. And we are glad!
The living room has turned into his work room building IKEA cabinets.
Another IKEA Akurum kitchen base cabinet.
Stuart, Paul assistant has started to build the IKEA kitchen cabinets.
Kitchen ceiling is smooth now. No more holes.
New oak planks will be placed on top of the underlayment.
New sub floor in the kitchen installed.
Where the old and the new meet. New oak floor installed to replace those floors with termite damages.
On the shuttle bus, going back to the office.
The picnic was held at this wonderful mansion.
At office yearly picnic at Montalvo Art Center, Aimee Mann was playing for us.
She saw this in the store and shouted, “Winter hat! Winter hat! Skye wants winter hat!”. Then she put it on herself (^_^).
Just picked up free moving boxes from Craigslist. Full house in the car! These saved us lots of money for our upcoming move.
Uh! Bathroom vanity cabinet on huge sale. $59 to 10 bucks! Can’t believe it. We aren’t going home without these. 9 of them on our cart. Shin has some interesting idea for these guys.
There has been probably weekly visit to IKEA. Today is one of those day again. This is IKEA Emeryville.
Skye was playing at backyard of the new house.
A little cut on Skye’s knee.
Cake session. Happy birthday, Otis!
At Otis’s 2nd birthday party at the park. Otis was trying to hold Skye’s hand (^_^).
Wood but not wood. I heart this porcelain!
Our tiles schematic. Skye wasn’t actually helping out. She was playing with those tile samples (^_^).
Need some light fixtures here later.
The frame of the hallway entry has been primed.
All covered up! There was a range hood line went up to the ceiling.
Kitchen wall is all patched up!
Flower time!
On the bench.
Skye came to visit me today at work. Playing at the garden around the office.
Smelling the flower.
Hole in the wall.
Bare ceiling in the hallway without the popcorn, ready to be textured.
This is where the exhaust hood used to be.
The wiring was awful. He has to open up this whole wall in the kitchen.
Vaulted ceiling is under construction.
A little pond we found.
Nacare Blanco tile looks so good! I wish the price is better though.
At Terico tile warehouse to find tiles for the bathroom, but found this giant kitchen sink instead. Wow, much bigger that IKEA one, with much lower price. Definitely this one!
Posing for the camera.
Now we just need to find some good toilet seat and cabinet, and everything would be perfect (^_^).
Yup, the sink cabinet is gone too. Look at all those termite damages! Yuck!
All left in the main bathroom is the bathtub. Everything else has been demolished. Even the floor!
This is how they remove the asbestos popcorn ceiling. Everything is under the plastic except the ceiling.
Another great news! He found oak hardwood floor underneath the kitchen vinyl.
He even managed to cut open the tiny hallway entrance to bedrooms, doubling the width, and put the new beam support, all in the first day. Wow, that was super quick! It looks like just the way we wanted.
The third bedroom’s popcorn ceiling has been removed! It’s gonna be great!
Carpet has been removed from the living room. The only area in the house that has concrete floor, aside from the garage, is this one. We heart concrete!
Wow, this guy, Paul, our contractor is fast! The kitchen is gone!
Demolition day! Today is the day the work begin. The estimate timing from the contractor’s proposal is one month. It’s going to be a busy month.
